3 Cancelled Rock Bands That Should Return

in #music6 years ago (edited)

I've got a large list of bands I enjoy listening to. Quite often, I check up on them to see if they are announcing any new music. However, I have come across several bands which now cease to create, either because band members have gone off to different ventures or they made nothing back in profits to keep them afloat. I have a list here of three different bands which I enjoy immensely and wish to see make a comeback in the near future.

Cold Driven

Cold Driven was a band hailing from Canada, owning a unique style of alternative rock to set them apart from other rock bands at the time. They released two albums and one EP, "Set in Stone" (2005), "Steel Chambers" (2007) and "The Wicked Side of Me - EP" (2011). The band stopped preforming and creating music in 2011 after the release of their EP for unknown reasons, as there is no official statement found anywhere online and any Google search of each individual band member comes up empty. My theory is the band never got popular and all the members needed to find other more profitable ventures for their families. Cold Driven toured a lot in Canada but only with other similar small rock groups. The only real source of information about them is their YouTube account, which has videos of their production for The Wicked Side of Me and a music video for hit single, Heavier Than Heaven. Although it is understandable they decided to stop creating music, their amazing mixture of post-grunge and alternative rock is so unique I cannot find another band like them! A reunion for another album would be awesome, as I have thoroughly enjoyed each album.

If I had to recommend some of my favorite songs for you to listen to, they would be: Kingdom Come, March Out of Line and Worthy Among Worthless. All can be found unofficially on YouTube uploaded by random people, or for purchase on CDbaby, an indie rock band website where you can buy official MP3 songs for those bands that don't release hard copy CDs.

Breaking Point

Breaking Point is yet another alternative rock band, coming out of Memphis, Tennessee, they started to grow in popularity around the mid 2000s thanks to their hit single, One of a Kind, being used for Rob Van Dam's entrance theme during his tenure with the WWE. With the song accompanying him to the ring every week, more and more people started to catch onto this band and their two albums: Coming of Age (2001) and Beautiful Disorder (2005). Rob Van Dam was also featured in the One of a Kind music video due to him aiding in the band's rise. In 2006, the band toured the United States, but several members begun to move on afterwards to join different bands. According to Wikipedia, they past the name of Breaking Point to a Miami band, however research of the name 'Breaking Point' comes up with two different bands: an Australian metal band formed in 2013 or a classic rock band coming from Ohio.

If I would suggest any songs, they would be Promise Keeper, Killing With Kindness and their major hit, One of a Kind. Unfortunately I cannot find any official links, I'm sure they're on either iTunes or their CDs can be found on eBay. Try not to get them confused with the three other possible bands with the same name.

Antiform

Now, with this one I'm kind of cheating, as this band is technically a Drum'n'Bass band. However, in my opinion, the relation of their music with rap and rock is so prominent, I've decided to add them to this list. Or, as stated by the online article found on the New Zealand Herald: "Antiform is more than just drum'n'bass, and they ride the genre's pulsing gauntlet to the point where they almost become a rock band." Antiform is from New Zealand and their debut album, City In Exile (2009), features several of New Zealand's finest, such as Tiki Taane, MC Twincam and The Autobots. Now, I was forutnate enough to be able to contact Antiform's official Facebook page and actually receive a response from them! Here is the message which I can screenshot and reveal in the comments if you wish to see it for yourself:

"Hey Trent, we have been on hiatus for 5 years or so. All of us off having families, getting married etc. Both Luke and I (Josh) separately have been looking to get back into it. I'm planning at some point this year to start writing again. Maybe as Antiform maybe as something else."

With this knowledge, I am keen for some form of return. They are an amazing band full of a wide variety of genres which are sure to please one of your tastes. If you had to listen to any songs, try Fight It Out, Blood Split and my personal favorite, Bury Me.

Let me know what you think and if you enjoy any of these bands! What band or artist would you want to see return?
