RE: Wayne Krantz Interview – A Guitarist's Guitarist
Your interviews are always a treasure chest and I'm really happy, that you brought us closer to another great artist, that I did not have much on my radar before. There is so much to explore, but this paragraph somehow got stuck in my mind:
Whether someone goes to school or not, in my case, at some point I realized that every single person that I admired and who inspired me, was someone who had developed their own thing one way or another. That's when I got the message. The message is not, “Play like me.” The message is, “Don't play like me.”
That's truly the way of an artist: Learning as much as one can and then forgetting about it to develop a very own personal expression.
All in all I felt very much inspired by reading the interview, as well as listening to the sound examples. I followed Wayne on his other social-media accounts, until he decides to join Steemit (which hopefully will be soon).
That passage you quoted is an important lesson for any artist. I've heard that message echoed by so many great musicians, often as "finding your own voice."
In a world where millions of people play guitar, it's not easy to do something truly unique, but he certainly has. It's why he's considered a guitarist's guitarist.
Musicians can be a game changer for Steemit, and Steemit can be a game changer for musicians -- I too hope we see Wayne here soon.
