Bonnie Raitt - Angel from Montgomery

in #music7 years ago

I saw Bonnie Rait in 1995 - which seems like a really long time ago now! She certainly didnt look as good as she does in this video - but shes got such an amazing song.

The best part of the Blues is the story that the singer tells. You can literally hear the vibration of the soul. When you think of strong Blues singers - you usually think of men like BB King, Muddy Waters or BB King. Bonnie has all the soul those guys have - but offers this innocent beautiful female voice to an often male dominated genre.

Her voice in the verses is a voice we dont hear anymore - sweet- honest - softly speaking at times - with just a hint of country. When she says "how can you go to work all day and have nothing to talk about when you get home" - I know she knows what that means - we ALL know what that means and what that feels like. Only an artist like Bonnie Raitt can capture that in a 3 minute song. Sorry Sheryl Crow.

Sort:

Shes one of a handful of women who change the blues from something that was seen as a black male art form. White and Latino males made their mark on the Blues as well - but women like Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Rait and Carol King challenged the stereotype and took blues, pop, r&B, country and rock to new levels!

Sí de alguna manera han transformado el escenario musical, no solo por su belleza, sino por su gran talento.

You’re gonna be the first person I’ll get to know that’s also a good Bonnie Raitt’s fan.
If she had a better force supporting her growth, she probably would have had the best chance to get on a much higher level even if it’s a male dominated genre. Do you like her album “dig in deep”

Bonnie Raitt is amazing.. She never wanted to be mainstream. I think Sheryl Crow copied her voice and adopted a more popular style.

I liked "Need You Tonight" from Dig in Deep.. It was actually a really good album. I prefer her older stuff - she was one of the artists who taught me blues!

I prefer her older world too! I guess she’s just trying to adapt but nevertheless I love the album. That’s the problem with artists that prefer being low key. These mainstream artists steal their sounds!
