Track of the Day #17: Fat Joe ~ All The Way Up (feat. Remy Ma & French Montana)
All The Way Up single cover
“All The Way Up” is a celebratory uptown anthem full of braggadocious lyrics by Bronx rappers Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and French Montana.
The term “all the way up” means to be high and excited; at the pinnacle of your emotional spectrum.
The track reunites Fat Joe and Remy, who scored a No. 1 Billboard hit with their 2005 smash “Lean Back.”
Remy joined Fat Joe’s Terror Squad after Big Pun discovered her in 2000, but she fell out with Joe around the release of debut album There’s Something About Remy in 2006.
In 2008, Remy was convicted assault and illegal weapon possession and sentenced to jail where she remained until 2014.
Joe and Rem have since buried the hatchet and “All The Way Up” is the first single from their collaborative LP Plato O Plomo.
On the track, Remy has got some wordplay going on, like right at the start of her verse:
Just left the big house to a bigger house
referring to the prison she just left as "big house" and her own house being even bigger.
She also mentions Rick Ross:
I got brown Lira, I ain't talkin' 'bout Ross' bitch
, referring to Ross' girlfriend at that time, Lira Mercer.
The music video also features DJ Khaled showing up:
