1965 Song BE MY MAN. Author: MIKE MOST.
The most interesting thing is that SUSIE WALLIS, when she recorded this song at the RCA VICTOR Studio, was not even fourteen years old. And she became famous in her native St. Louis (Missouri) when she was not even ten years old.
A talented girl, SUSANNAH WALLACH, hosted a local television program for children ,,Susie's Play room,,
There she was spotted by LORNA GREEN of,, BONANZA,, and brought to the Studio. Listening to her voice and not seeing her, Susie at first could be confidently mistaken for a black singer, just as ten years earlier Elvis Presley ( not seeing.) was taken for a Negro - by the vocal characteristics of African-American performers.
So Susie was considered quite an adult Negro singer from some,, SHIRELLS,, or,, CHIFFONS,, (vok.women's groups of the early 60s) But SUSANNAH WALLACH (her real name) was a white Jewish girl from St. Louis.....true enough with a short musical career.....Recording in 1965.
