I've not heard of Gong before, I'll be sure to check them out! It must have been amazing meeting your hero like that. I wouldn't have been able to keep so calm.
I know progressive rock is not for everyone, it's kind of a complex music, between jazz and rock, but maybe you like it. Give it a try! ;) I've met some other "famous" musicians and never been nervous talking to them, under the "star", there's always a normal person, with hopes, fears, good and bad days.
