Tom Brislin - Steppin’ Out - Cover of Joe Jackson’s 80’s classic - multi-split screen music video

in #music7 years ago

What a great day to be on Steemit! Thanks for the love on my last post. Since we’re still getting to know each other, I’d like to share with you a video of my rendition of one of my favorite 80’s pop classics: “Steppin’ Out” by Joe Jackson.

The original version of this song is known for it’s signature synth bass line. I decided that my version would use that as a jumping off point and take it to new places.
I’m a big fan of the multi-split-screen “video song” approach, so I captured video for every single take of every single track I recorded. With the help of my good friend Kira Smith, we created a video that shows you every part that you hear.

I’ve posted gear info below. Please enjoy!

Gear:

Synth bass: Moog Little Phatty, layered via MIDI to Moog Voyager and Alesis Andromeda A6
Poly synth and arpeggiator: Roland Jupiter-6
Piano: Yamaha G2 with Miktek C5 condenser mics
Glockenspiel with Miktek C5 condenser mic
Vocal with Miktek C7 condenser mic
Apogee Ensemble audio interface
iMac running Logic Pro 9 (this was recorded several years ago) and Ultrabeat drum machine
Video edited on Final Cut Pro
