Tom Brislin - "Hurry Up and Smell the Roses" original song - live at living room concert
This song was written as the title track (and leadoff track) of my first ever solo album. There are subtle themes throughout the album about the "tug of war" we experience with regard to how to get the best out of life. On one hand, you hear "Don't waste a moment", and "make the most out of your time", which many interpret to mean "do more", "work harder", etc. On the other hand, you hear "stop and smell the roses", "take it all in", "let life flow", etc. Sometimes these two messages can be at odds with one another. In this song I aimed to capture the tension of being caught between these two ideas.
This is a live recording from a living room concert I performed a few years back.
