Nomad Culture: Perija from Skopje, Macedonia
Before Katye joined Omar and I in making our project Kelebek Evrimi work to produce a very unique ethno-western fusion she has been part of many musical adventures.
One ongoing journey for her is Perija (peh-ree-ya).
Perija is a small gathering of beautiful strong women that play a mix of Turkish and Bulgarian music in their own dark apocalyptic flavour. They travel Europe and Turkey annually with their street music. There's even a documentary in Macedonian made about them that was aired on national Macedonian TV about street music life so technically - they're famous!
Be sure to check out Perija's album 'Loc' which is available on BandCamp here: https://perija.bandcamp.com/
For a great preview, check out this song posted on youtube:
Find their facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/perijamusic
...and remember to keep supporting your underground music scene.
Thanks for listening and keep your ears open for the upcoming EP release of 'A delicate procedure' by Kelebek Evrimi which will be released this super blood moon on January the 21st.

Super. Perija is one of my favorite musical groups. They carry the heavy Balkan witchy goddess power so powerfully ...
Yes, I agree. They represent the archetype well. All the best, Monty x
