That was a lovely read. Since I am versed in football, I would add Gerry & The Pacemakers' "You'll Never Walk Alone," that has since become the anthem of top Premier League side Liverpool FC. Fresh in my memory is "Waving Flag" by Somalian rapper K'naan, with lyrics that perfectly resonated with we Africans that played host to the mundial event in 2010. Lyrics like:

born to a throne
stronger than rome
but violent prone
poor people zone
but its my home
all i have known
where i got grown
streets we would roam
