7 Musicians you should know on Steemit (w3)

1. Shookriya - Blue Daniel

Okay, where to start. There are so many impeccable things about this video when we first saw it. Let's start with the guitar. The song starts slow with a simple guitar intro with nothing quite special (so it seemed). I thought to myself "The birds chirping in the background is nice" and then he starts to sing. Oh My Goodness he starts to sing. A Jazz Crooner's voice is a scarcity these days with the amount of electronic music dominating the charts. Shookria brings a completely perfected Jazz Vocal Style to us here on Steemit, along with the Double Bass with good intonation. However a Jazz Crooner is only recognized as such upon Imporv, Vocalese and Scatting. We think he knocked Scatting out of the park. You need to hear this.

2. Aldona - Skinny Love

Justin Vernon (Lead Vocalist from Bon Iver) is no doubt a pioneer in making Folk Music accesible for the world. Having the guts to cover such an Artist commands respect already so you can trust that we were very excited when we saw the title of this video. Aldona, rocks a Ukelele in this video with minimal Backing Vocals and a cold natural feel lingers throughout this video. We love that plainly because Bon Iver translates to "Cold Winter". Her voice projects a very delecate tone, somewhat Icelandic folk or Scandinavian folk influence. Whether or not it was intentional, it's amazing to hear such vocals flow so gently. It reminded us of one of our favourite singers: Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir from the band Of Monsters and Men.

3. Laviq - Nocturno by F. Moreno-Torroba

Laviq is definitely a Musician's Musician. On his channel you can witness vast amounts of pieces ranging from feelings of Cold and Warm. His technique is on point and well as his sense of touch. What impressed us the most was his pacing ability and it's something only experience can give you. He is completely unfazed and takes his time to tell the story of the piece, like a trance almost. You can't help but be roped into the music he creates.

4. Lilly Wilton - Goodnight, My Love, Goodnight

Lilly, why Lilly? Our hearts broke into a million pieces of already shattered pieces Lilly why? Okay deep breath. Let's look at the hero of this song: the Songwriting. It's an interesting writing style somehow quirky and somehow listenable. I avoided reading the rest of the post as she explains the song to create my own interpretation of it but you can read it in the link above. At first listen I immediately feel a sense of "I can't make you Love me - Bonnie Raitt" and "The Moon Song from Her 2012". After placing relatable imagery, I found myself incapsulated by a few words used within the verses. Initially the begin with metaphors that play out through the song, followed by contextual storytelling. It's pretty, very pretty. However, what got to me was the usage of "Headphones" and "Bagels". It's a stretch to use quicky words when everything else is so pretty but it works. Let me explain. The imagery sonically and lyrically give you a very crystal-like feeling throughout the song but the quirkiness adds her character not only into the song but more specifically the main message of the song: Two opposing people (themes) trying to work things out. It sticks out like a sore thumb in the most beautiful way.

5. Funk Media

There's so energy quite like Funk Media energy. Absolutely entertaining and we love the effort they put into their videos. In this Daft Punk cover we enjoyed something that we definitely did not expect. They start off with a beatbox loop as the heartbeat of the band and some 80s synths in the back and boom! the xFactor takes over with the lead vocalist singing with the Vocoder effect. The acoustic Bass is a nice touch but we what we love has always been their energy. Start your day with some Funk Media, today.

6. Sami D. Barid - Original Harp Song

Here's someone with great ears. In order to piece together a piece like this is a skill in itself but we believe that Sami might have cultivated a talent that not many musicians have. The ability to make something so simple come to life like an explosion of color. The strings added at the very end was a nice touch. He has also created a niche for himself with this performance and we are looking very much forward to see him be a staple here on Steemit. Also, we would like to commend the production quality of the track.

7. Davood Faramarzi - Ceremonial

Transport yourself into another world with @DavidFar. There's something about video game music like Dark Cloud 2 or Final Fantasy X that conjure up nostalgia. This definitely somehow made us feel like we did when console gaming was at its prime. We felt like this Medieval track also contained hints of Steampunk and Fantasy. The violin that eventually joins the track was also well produced but most of all we enjoyed the dynamics he decided to go with. We are itching for a complete track made with a real full orchestra and live voices. We are so excited to hear more from David.
