Billie Elish Song Analysis

Billie Elilish is an American singer and song writer who rose to fame when she was only 15 years old. In this article I analyze some of my favorite songs from Billie Elilsh.

I discovered her through YouTube recommendation and the first song I heard from her was "bellyache" which made me search the singer and find her other songs. For her age, I think these songs are pretty good with some depth behind them and she can express her feelings pretty good. When I payed more attention to her songs, I realized they are connected like the song title of "ocean eyes" is mentioned in the lyrics of "You should see me in a crown". He songs show both sensitivity and danger.

Her song "you should see me in a crown", it is a vertical video and it is posted like that.

For example, "ocean eyes" is about beauty of a person's mind that is manifested in his or her eyes. She says she falls into those eyes, almost like she loses herself in the world of this person eyes.

Her song "bad guy" talks about this underlying meaning behind relationships and how men fear women's sexuality. Basically, the meaning of her song is that men fear women's sexuality and it is women that are implicitly the bad guy". She sings the last scene of the song.

Her song "bury a friend", in an interview she says this song is inspired by the horror movie "babadock" and mentioned that she has a little notebook she caries and writes all her nightmares and song ideas in it. I thought I should have a journal and write my nightmares in it. This song talks about a friend's betrayal that leads to suicide. In another take, I realized that the person whose POW we are hearing in the song might have been the abuser that has been hang between this state of denial that he or she is in facet the one who has abused his fiend's trust for her gain and it reminds of the satanic cults who have human sacrifices that must be a close loved one. the song is creepy and it is intended to be and there is no denying in that, it could have some base in reality or it could be just illusions circulating between conspiracy theorists or it could be the actual hard fact truth that has been turned into a song and talks about exactly what happened to a certain individual. There is a scene in the music where she is literally is back stabbed with needles. I think she literally backstabbing by a friend is like feeling those needles into your all of your being. There is a lyric in the song where she says "I sell my soul because I cant say no", which she might refer to her kindness, of how she is back stabbed because of that.

Her song "when the party is over", talks about the selfishness of emotions and how it is easily converted from good to bad. How one feelings change.

I like the danger and how this danger portrays truth of human condition in her songs!
