The Chainsmokers is an American DJ duo band which was formed in 2012 and comprises of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. The band’s first original song was ‘#Selfie’ which was released in 2014 as a free track to promote their upcoming show in Miami. The song became viral because of its cringe worthy yet catchy beats and that’s how they became known in the industry although their second single ‘Kanye’ didn’t do well as ‘Selfie’.

 Stepping into the music industry with their infamous song ‘#Selfie’ and bagging no. 1 spot in the US, Canada Billboard charts with their song “Closer” featuring Halsey, The Chainsmokers have come a long way in their EDM music career.

The band came into the main EDM scene with the release of their albums ‘Bouquet’ and ‘Collage’ that features huge hit singles by the Chainsmokers. It is for these albums that the band was acknowledged internationally. The albums bagged them position in not only Billboard charts but also in ARIA and OCC.

Now it is obvious that once you are successful, the money comes along. But how much are The Chainsmokers exactly earning ? Let’s find out. The Chainsmokers reconstructed their image after a failed performance at the American Idol which they still regret. It is because of the change in their style that the band is now counted among the top ten highest paid EDM artists. With their songs like “Don’t let me down” featuring Daya, “Setting fires” featuring XYLO, “All we know” featuring Phoebe Ryan and “Something like this” featuring the British rock band Coldplay, the Chainsmokers have created an empire for themselves by setting high standards for the upcoming EDM artistes.

The Chainsmokers’ earning was under $14 million since 2015 and has been more than doubled now because of their popularity and quality of music they have been producing. As for few critics, the music produced by the Chainsmokers is not at all amusing. In an article, the esquire.com compared the band to Nickelback, calling them ‘Nickelback of EDM’. Despite of all the criticism, the Chainsmokers are yet making millions whether it is in the terms of money or winning the hearts of the people around the globe. 

 The chainsmokers earn whopping $38 million which is equivalent to Dj Marshmello’s income. The majority of their earnings have been cashed in from the various shows that they’ve sold out. Not only this, the duo also managed to pull billion of views on their music videos on Youtube and millions of streams on Spotify and other apps related to music. With this speedy growth, those days aren’t far when may be the Chainsmokers will be the highest paid Djs of all time beating Calvin Harris who currently tops the list. Although the band missed it from making their name into the FORBES’ list of top earnings DJs in 2016 but they made it into the list in 2017.
