Profound Lore Records - Forthcoming Release Schedule (Extreme Metal)

Profound Lore Records are a Canadian based independent record label specialising in extreme metal music. They have been in operation now for around 15 years. I became aware of the label only around 2 years ago, but right now they are my favourite label, they are consistently putting out quality releases.

I currently host and regularly update a (unofficial) playlist of the labels discography via Spotify, usually updated with new music at least a few times a month - The playlist currently stands at 1,180 tracks.

This year so far the label has been on absolute fire with amazing releases from the likes of Evoken, Vanum and most recently Pissgrave and new act Totaled. The label have a ton of new music scheduled to come, I thought I would use this opportunity to showcase what is coming up on the label and perhaps introduce a few others to the imprint.

DEAD TO A DYING WORLD “Elegy” - Due April 19th

Texas based elemental dark metal ensemble DEAD TO A DYING WORLD have completed work on their poignant new epoch “Elegy” set for release on CD/2LP/Digital on April 19th. Following up 2015’s ambitious “Litany” endeavor, “Elegy” sees the septet take their creative spirit to a new apotheosis resulting in the collective’s most focused and moving opus yet.

VAURA "Sables" - Due 26th April

NY-based experimental prog/post-metal band VAURA (consisting of members from Gorguts, Azar Swan, Dysrhythmia, Kay Dot, and Tombs) have completed work on their new album “Sables” set for release on April 26th on CD/LP/Digital. This mark’s the collective’s first album since 2013’s “The Missing”.

GARDSGHASTR's Debut Album “Slit Throat Requiem” - Due 26th April

GARDSGHASTR a new black metal entity created by the forces comprised of prolific members culled from black metal artists Bekëth Nexëhmü and Chaos Moon unleash their debut album “Slit Throat Requiem” (out on April 26 on CD/2LP/Digital), an epic bewitching symphonic black metal maelstrom that harks back to the majesty of the Norwegian black metal scene of the ‘90s.

DREADNOUGHT “Emergence” - Due 10th May

For their fourth full-length album “Emergence” (out May 10 on CD/LP/Digital), Denver, Colorado doom-prog band DREADNOUGHT follow-up their 2017 “A Wake In Sacred Waves” acclamation with an album that takes their singular multiplex and pictorial sound to new sonic realms even more heavily textile, complex, and vastly designed. “Emergence” sees the four-piece, consisting of vocalist/guitarist/flute player Kelly Schilling, drummer/sax player Jordan Clancy, keyboardist/vocalist Lauren Vieira, and bassist/mandolin player Kevin Handlon, delving more into heavier and darker sonic territory as well, an aspect that was evident with “A Wake…” but has become fully realized with “Emergence”.
