Song Obsessions in 2017 (part II)
1. Toro y Moi - Girl Like You
Otherwise might have been titled 'how to pick up a chick in 2017'. Although the song is so well made as a pop tune it doesn't even have to be about that.
2. Kirin J Callinan - S. A. D.
This is where the crazy Australian man Kirin outdid even himself. The 1st viewing of this video will be mostly about it visually, but try it a 2nd and a 3rd time and you'll discover there's an interesting song underneath.
3. Kirin J Callinan - Bravado
Kirin being almost a normal human being this time. Deep feelings, lost in the alienating public transportation system.
4. Washed Out - Get Lost
A classy party anthem for the year that's past.
5. Salvador Sobral - Amar Pelos Dois
Remember Eurovision? I don't. I never watch it. I just found out after it ended that this Portuguese guy won, so I checked the song out. And it was totally not what I expected.
6. Mac DeMarco - This Old Dog
Every year Mac DeMarco releases a new album is a good year.
7. Antonio Bertali - Sonata à 3
Sometimes modern music is too much for me and I retreat in a cocoon where you can only hear proper godly sounds, such as this one.
8. Hüsker Dü - Don't Want To Know If You Are Lonely
Raw, rudimentary, blunt. Not giving a fuck.
9. Raury - God's Whisper
Heard this one in one of my favorite movies of the past years, American Honey. Haven't really escaped this obsession ever since, as it's reoccurring.
10. Emptiness - Meat Heart
Now here's a song for cold cold winters. Anyone with a black heart will resonate with this at some point.
