Is Music like Math in that it is Universal?
We've all been told that Mathematics is a universal language. What about music?
Recently, during #karaokemania on the discord channel for #steemschools (you can join us here https://discord.gg/TaZFW5r), I have come to understand and believe that music speaks to everyone and has no barrier, just as math is universal, I believe music is as well. It speaks to everyone.
There are many cultures on steem schools. There are many languages spoken. Many, in all honesty, I do not understand. In high school, I studied French and Latin. I was very fluent in French and was offered the chance to become a foreign exchange student and live abroad for a year, but my parents would not allow it. I understand that they did not want their only child away from home for so long. It would have been an amazing experience if I would have been able to.
Having said that, I have picked up some Spanish from general conversation and have been able to understand bits and pieces. Just like math, no matter what the problem, the solution is there. Whether it is sang beautifully by someone from Venezuela, Indonesia, or Nigeria, you understand with your heart, the conviction they are portraying when they sing. Whether it is humorous, heartfelt, sentimental, the answer is there.
To me, it matters not what language someone sings in. Music, like math, is afterall, universal. Music is everywhere. Whether it is a song in your heart or on the radio. You have it with you.
I invite you to join us for #karaokemania, but I also would like to invite you to join us for #steemschools as well, to get to know these wonderful people. There are amazing people throughout the world and I have met many in this school and it seems that the music has brought a lot of us closer together! We laugh, and we joke around. Even when we have problems with communicating through language, we still find a way to communicate through music, and we are even helping one another with teaching basic phrases and words of each other's languages. It is a beautiful thing. I am so thankful that, even though they have karaoke every night, this competition has brought many new people in and it has been an amazing experience for me.

your very moving words, and if singing is something that always unites people regardless of their languages, countries and cultures, it is good to know that despite so many distances and limitations, such as speech and territorial limiites, we can find a little of hubbub in the lovely singing and the different music

Math and music are intimately related. Not necessarily on a conscious level, but sure.
