Let’s talk about acoustic guitar and stereo micing. Acoustic guitar can be a very tricky instrument to record sometimes and you really need to know what kind of sound and tone you are trying to reach.

This is me recording acoustic guitar for one of my original tracks and this micing technique seems like stereo micing but it’s not, we used couple of small diaphragm microphones and pointed one of them to the fretboard and the other
pointed to the bridge in order to get the balance response of the acoustic guitar frequencies.

If you want to use this technique then in post you need to phase check the two mics and treat them as one source of sound.
If you want to double track your guitar and pan them left and right make sure to play the parts couple of times and don’t move too much in order not to get so much of flanging effect.

Always tune your guitar before each take and set your mobile phone to airplane, if you use tube mic pres let the tubes warmup for at least half an hour to get a warm tube tone and always check headphone bleed in the mics before you record your final takes.
