Holy Shit, The Needle Drop is On Steemit! (Music Reviewer w/ One Million YouTube Subscribers)
In case you missed it: Every steem musician should be paying attention to the fact that one of YouTube’s most popular and respected music journalists/reviewers, Anthony Fantano, has just joined Steemit at @theneedledrop.
This is big! After all, our goal for Steemit is that it will become a new monetization structure for all kinds of music content - from the songs themselves, to the tutorials and instructional content, to the reviews and journalism, and so on.
Having a major influential voice of the music world here, like Fantano, is a huge step in that direction.
What You Can Do to Help
It’s pretty simple: Follow @theneedledrop and give him some upvotes. He got great payouts on his first few posts but that has tapered off - let’s show the man some love.
He has been responding to comments on his posts, and given that his YouTube videos garner thousands of comments within hours, this is a rare opportunity to cut through that noise and share your thoughts with him.
Is This The Beginning of Steemit’s Next Step?
There have been a lot of complaints over the years about Steemit’s “trending posts” homepage. At times it has been filled with seemingly mediocre content, often all about blockchain news that only appeals to people deep in the cryptocurrency industry.

Now we’re getting closer to a healthy homepage - we’ve had stuff like a personal profile of Elon Musk originally from Rolling Stone magazine, with Steemit-exclusive original material, for example. One day Steemit will be more like Reddit, where the front page is filled with ultra-pro content like this.
It is surreal to see The Needle Drop on Steemit - but it’s not that surprising, maybe just faster than I had dreamed of. Who’s next? Perhaps No Jumper could get over here, he’s often speaking about YouTube monetization issues.
What music reviewers/interviewers/etc do you want to see on Steemit?
When Anthony featured the first single off the last Maserati record I did, it was literally a “ok we have arrived” moment and I felt almost exactly the same seeing he had made his way here. Dude is legit, his reviews are supremely well informed and he’s a 100 diy built from nothing internet success I’ve been following for years.

He's pretty picky about his math rock - even the latest Tera Melos album didn't get a full record review if I recall correctly. So it's extra dank that you guys got covered.

Cinemechanica, my og math band that has played a million shows with nick and TM (actually I’m pretty sure we are the ones who got John his spot on drums lol) has about a 0.0000001 diminishing return of ever being featured on there :)

Hehe yeah, when I first joined up, the favourite articles tended to be cryptocurrency, Steem and how to use Steem. Not so hot on specialist subjects!
I'm not personally a huge fan of his taste in music - his reviews are well put together and well thought out but because we differ in taste they don't benefit me in figuring out what albums I may or may not like - that being said, it's really cool that he joined Steem.
