My attendance to live music gig and festival
Hello steemians,
we're all going through a very special period where the Coronavirus also known as COVID-19 is silently spreading like the plague worldwide and because of this, we are staying at home and until today we were going outside for only necessary reasons. From tomorrow the government here will be implementing a nationwide strict restriction on public movement by requiring us to get ourselves a permit and we will be able to go outside by firstly having with us a written or printed statement or via sms and that statement will be granted only for six particular cases and no other than those and nobody will be able to be outside without this permit in case the police stops someone to check.
Anyway, having not so much to do, I thought to create a post about my attendance to one gig and another festival, one which took place in January this year and the other one in February this year.
I'll start with the first one which was Rotting Christ. Last year (2019) Rotting Christ together with Moonspell were on their European tour and naturally two stops in that tour were in Greece, one in Athens and the other one in Thessaloniki . The initial date scheduled to appear here in Athens was 13th November. Unfortunately a few days before their concert here the weather was bad and because they would be coming by boat from Italy, the bad weather didn't allow the boat to sail and thus they didn't have the time needed to be here on stage in that scheduled date. So they had to postpone their appearance here and reschedule another available date. The new date was announced and it was 25th January this year. All good till here. About a week before the rescheduled date Moonspell announced that because of personal reasons they weren't able to come over here to perform without giving any further explanation about what had happened. I should mention that because of the initial postponement, the two bands had announced that instead of one appearance, they would make two appearances, meaning that not only would they appear on Saturday's new date, but also the following Sunday, making two appearances instead of one. How awesome we thought. Thus myself and a good friend of mine booked two tickets for both nights. After Moonspell's cancel we asked to be refunded for the second night's ticket we had bought and went ahead to see Rotting Christ headlining that Saturday with two other bands supporting them. By the way I usually also have the ticket to show that I'd be keeping it in collection, but since we booked it online, we only had a piece of paper which I threw away after the gig. I should also mention that the two bands had announced that in the extra date added for us Moonspell would be performing songs from their first two albums Irreligious & Wolfheart and Rotting Christ would perform exclusively their first three albums along with their demos. Of course Rotting Christ having nothing to stop them did.
So that Saturday we arrived at the venue and at the time we entered we met with another friend of ours who was there from the beginning and we saw the second support band before the headlining big name. And finally the time arrived for Rotting Christ to hit the stage, so I captured their opening two songs
As can be seen the crowd was really excited and the band's performance was great and full of energy, I captured more songs you can see below
Lastly I captured two out of three songs they played in their encore
Their appearance the next day from what I heard was equally good and everybody was left with great impressions.
I'll move on to the festival that took place in February
As can be seen on the ticket this festival is a Black Metal festival and it's the second one organised, the first one took place in 2017. In this festival as well not everything went exactly according to plan since among the bands that were initially announced, most Greek, one from Cyprus and Possession from Belgium who couldn't make it here since some kind of mess up occurred with their plane tickets and subsequently another band was announced to replace them and that band was Sear Bliss. When I saw in the social media about this festival and the replacement with Sear Bliss I got excited and knew I wouldn't miss the opportunity to see them again, so I talked to a friend and we said to go to that festival.
By the time I entered the venue the first band had already completed their appearance and I got myself a beer and stood to listen to the next band, which was fine and I enjoyed it. I made sure that by the end of that band's appearance I would be done with my beer so I could have my hands free to record songs from the next bands in line and so I did. Below you can see two videos from the next band appearing
And then Sear Bliss hit the stage, in the pause between the previous band's set and the next band's set we went outside to go get a beer from a shop nearby instead of buying it inside the venue with the price being 5 times higher and also smoke outside. so by the time we were inside Sear Bliss had already played their first song. Didn't matter, we still enjoyed their set, I have recorded videos from their appearance the moment we were back in below
and also recorded two more videos
and a last one with two songs ending their set
Again in the pause between the previous band's set and the next headlining one Kawir's set we went outside for a smoke.
I recorded the opening of Kawir's set below
You can also see two more songs I recorded
The night was very enjoyable and honestly with the current situation as it is now I really miss going to gigs. But it goes without saying that health comes first, our own health and our loved ones equally. Having said that you can consider using your home pc's resources by installing and running a software which is about disease research. I'm using it in the last two-three days that I read about it, you can set it to use your computer's resources light or medium or full and also set it while you're working or only when idle. You don't need to do anything, it does it all by itself, please read more about it by clicking the following link https://foldingathome.org/
We've reached the end of this fairly long post, thank you indeed for checking this post, I hope you like the music as well and as the Vulcan salute says in Star Trek "Live Long And Prosper"!
