My last minute adventure watching Krammpstein(Rammstein Tribute Band) @the Complex in Glendale California
Saturday was a bit of a long hot lazy day here in Los Angeles which we are not used to so we decided to stay in Saturday night and get some take out, rent a good sci-fi thriller and just chill. Then Adrian Vox and I got a message from one of our good friends, Lina Lecaro (event writer for LA Weekly and L.A. Slush), who invited us over to a gig she was DJing. She mentioned Krammpstein would be performing and that she could add us to the list. Krammpstein is a tribute to the Industrial Metal band from Germany Rammstein. It sounded interesting just by looking at the invite on facebook. It looked like it was going to full on Horror, Loud Music, Wicked Masks and lots of head banging. We normally are not too much into this but we thought, "Ehh why not?"
We got to the Complex in Glendale and as soon as we walk it we heard the thundering hard rocking sounds of heavy drums and bass. Wow! We ran into our friend Marco who owns El Diablo Moto Repair Shop In Highland Park and hung out with him for a bit while our friend DJd. We just missed the opening band, Empyrean Throne, but we were right on time for Krammpstein! It turned out to be a fun night of cookies (yes they gave out ginger snap cookies), foam snow, fur, masks and horns, Krampus style! They had a festive Christmas theme and I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed the show and laughs.. These guys were really entertaining!!
After the show we got the munchies and ended up at Fred 62 in Loz Feliz for some good breakfast at 2am! This diner is open 24/7! You see lots of different types of folks here from punks and hipsters to club goers so it was great for people watching; not to mention the food was pretty decent there. We got home at 4.30am and we were just so tired but we had a nice night. I would most def see this band again!
