A COMPLETE MUSICIAN / ALFREDO DEL MONACO COMPOSER

Alfredo Del Mónaco was born in Caracas on April 29, 1938.

He studied Piano with Moises Moleiro and composition with Primo Casale.

In 1974 he graduated from Columbia University as "Doctor of Music".

In 2003, he received the IV Latin American Music Prize Tomás Luis de Victoria, created by the General Society of Authors. The award, endowed with 75,000 euros, recognizes the "capacity for sound metaphor" of Del Monaco. The jury also praised "the originality and creative imagination" of the Venezuelan composer, as well as "his connection with the founding management and cultural promotion of his country" (this award would be won in 2010 by Cuban composer Leo Brouwer.

His works have been performed at various festivals around the world, such as the "Internationalle Woche für Musik" Berlin, "Festival of Las Amércias and Spain" Madrid, "Festival Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center" New York, "Festival Musique Electronique" Belgium , "Festival Musica-Nova" Brazil, "International Festival of Contemporary Music of Venice" Italy, "Guitar Festival of Venezuela" Venezuela, "Encuentro de Música Contemporánea" Chile, among others.
Tientos de la Noche Imaginada (Guitar and Symphonic Orchestra), was commissioned by the National Council of Culture premiered at the V Latin American Music Festival in November 1991, with Rubén Riera (to whom the work is dedicated) on the Guitar and Orchestra Simon Bolivar Symphony under the Direction of Alfredo Rugeles.
This interpretation is in charge of Jonnathan El Barouki with the Symphony Orchestra of Aragua under the direction of Enyú Peña Oramas.

Alfredo Del Mónaco nació en Caracas el 29 de Abril de 1938.

Estudió Piano con Moises Moleiro y composición con Primo Casale.

En 1974 se egresa de la Universidad de Columbia como “Doctor en Música”.

En el año 2003 recibe el IV premio iberoamericano de la Música Tomás Luis de Victoria, creado por la Sociedad General de Autores. El galardón, dotado con 75.000 euros, reconoce la “capacidad para la metáfora sonora” de Del Mónaco. El jurado, elogió también “la originalidad e imaginación creativa” del compositor venezolano, así como “su vinculación con la gestión fundacional y la promoción cultural de su país” (este premio lo ganaría en el año 2010 el compositor cubano Leo Brouwer.

Su obras han sido interpretadas diversos festivales en todo el mundo, como el “Internationalle Woche für Musik” Berlín, “Festival de Las Amércias y España” Madrid, “Festival Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center” New York, “Festival Musique Electronique” Bélgica, “Festival Musica-Nova” Brasil, “Festival Internacional de Música Contemporánea de Venecia” Italia, “Festival de Guitarra de Venezuela” Venezuela, “Encuentro de Música Contemporánea” Chile, entre otros.

Tientos de la Noche Imaginada (Guitarra y Orquesta Sinfónica), fue un encargo del Concejo Nacional de Cultura estrenado en el V Festival Latinoamericano de Música en Noviembre de 1991, con Rubén Riera (a quién está dedicada la obra) en la Guitarra y la Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar bajo la Dirección de Alfredo Rugeles.
Esta interpretación está a cargo de Jonnathan El Barouki junto a la Orquesta Sinfónica de Aragua bajo la dirección de Enyú Peña Oramas.
