The Desert Dwellers: Awakenings in Electronic Music

Greetings Steemians! we are thrilled to find out about this new platform and happy to be a part of this growing community!! Desert Dwellers is a music duo consisting of Amani Friend & Treavor Moontribe. For 20+ years we have been producing music together, in many different electronic genres. We also work with many amazing world music musicians and vocalists in the studio, giving our productions a blend of modern and ancient sounds. "Music Beyond Borders" has become our moniker as it's hard to put us in a box. In addition to touring the world as Desert Dwellers, we have run the music label Desert Trax since 2005 with many international artists on the roster, and we have our various side projects like Liquid Bloom, Pheuzen, Forever and Ever, and Variant Field. We have poured our lives into music, and have had the honor and privilege to share the stage with some of the most incredible musicians and artists such as Simon Posford (Shpongle), and Alex + Allyson Grey.

As the years have orbited and we have grown older, we have noticed an increasing and disturbing trend in the music 'industry.' When Napster came around there was a great shift, and we watched as people more and more expected music to be free instead of paying for it; which quickly eroded musicians royalties and ability to make a living outside of touring. Streaming services like Spotify have only made the situation worse and solidified those trends. Nowadays, the only way to survive as a musician is to tour like crazy, if you are lucky and able to. We would love to see a new platform emerge for musicians and their content, and have hopes for the blockchain technology to assist this cause. Music gives so much to people and enriches their lives so immensely. We are here on Steemit to experiment with this technology and see if it can enrich musicians lives in a way they so deserve.
