Musical Friday: Top 5 animated music videos

in #music7 years ago
Good day Steemians! In the world of music there are many musical artists who not only stand out in the creation of their lyrics and the production of their music, both indispensable elements for a good song. But another key element that has been part of the music since television appeared and that went off at the end of the 60s has been music videos, these videos have varied from simple edited recordings of concerts and studio essays, to show us complex stories and arguments that allow us to connect with music in a more intimate way or to give more enthusiasm and energy to the song we are listening to. Today I want to highlight my top 5 personal music videos that use the resource of animation to tell a story or express the idea that the artist wants to capture with his song. Without further ado let's start!

5th Place: Siames - The Wolf

Siames is a relatively new Argentina band, It was created in 2013 by G. Stöltzing (voice) and Mr. Blakk (piano, synthesizers and choirs) but it wasn't until November of 2016 that they made their big debut with the album "bounce into the music" one of the great promises of the current Rock in my opinion and I hope they keep growing. The video combines a 2D animation style with a "polygonal" style that recalls certain video games from the first PlayStation, which despite being simple, makes the movements of the characters and expressions capture attention and direct emotions.

## **4th Place: Linkin Park - Breaking the habit**

there isn't much to say about Linkin Park, im sure many have been fans or have at least heard their most emblematic songs like "In the End" or "Faint". This is a band that has always stood out a lot with their music videos, investing in them a lot of production and editing time. In the case of "Breaking the habit" the band went on to experiment with an area that had not yet been played, the animation and not any kind of animation, in this case the band contacted Studio 4c, the creator of movies and anime series. as "Memories" or "Detroit Metal City." This video won the "Public Choise" and "Best video rock" award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2004

## **3rd Place: Daft Punk - One more time**

Fuente

Although this video is almost 15 years old, the French duo Daft Punk showed us that not only can they make good music, but they can also create a good story that is engaging from beginning to end, using it as an introduction to the film "Interstellar 5555", this being the visual embodiment of his album Discovery, the greatest in my opinion and my favorite to date. In the video we can see the introduction of the characters of the film and how the voices, instruments and the vibes of joy and dance go in complete synchrony with the musical theme, making you want to at least move your head to the rhythm of the music.

2nd Place: A-ha - Take on me

Fuente

This masterpiece of the Norwegian group A-ha was released in mid-1985, the animated parts were drawn by the animator Mike Patterson, all in pencil and by using the rotoscope technique, all the images were superimposed frame by frame to create the fluidity of movement of the characters, this took nothing more and nothing less than to make three thousand frames and put them together for animation in a period of four months. That's dedication!

1st Place: Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood

Fuente

Of course I couldn't miss in a list of bands with animated videos the band that IS fully animated. The boys of Gorillaz take in my opinion the first position for their video "Clint Eastwood" one of their first videomusical works in which we observed the members of the band to be introduced for us, with elements of rap and alternative rock the video develops smoothly and gives us certain "easter eggs", as references to the video "Thriller" by Michael Jackson with the dance of the gorillas and of course references to the movie "the good, the bad and the ugly" that is also the name of that first album, and finally shows us the names for the first time of each of the "members" of the band: 2-D, Noddle, Murdoc and Russel. A video that will surely remain in our memory and in history.

And so concludes my humble list of animated music videos. There are many more that I wanted to place of course but if you liked the post I can place them in another list in the future. Mention that another animated video you like that is not on this list and if you like it, vote, share and leave your comment and as always.
