Alejandro Sanz, su antes y después de la evolución musical

Hace algunos días les comentaba mi admiración hacia Alejandro Sánchez Pizarro, mejor conocido por el mundo entero como “Alejandro Sanz” que es su nombre artístico desde 1991 cuando lanzó su primer trabajo musical titulado “Viviendo Deprisa”. Este madrileño es músico, compositor y cantante de profesión; pintor, cocinero y altruista de hobby y, lo más importante, una gran persona con sus fans y amigos. Cuenta en su lista de reconocimientos y premios con 20 Grammys latinos y 3 Grammys americanos.

Suele caracterizarse por tener siempre en cuenta el romanticismo en todas sus creaciones. Hasta hace algunos años sus ritmos solían ser lentos, más de guitarra acústica y piano que de batería e instrumentos eléctricos, aspecto que permitía destacarle como un artista que dedicaba su carrera al amor y al desamor. Hoy día encontramos sonidos más movidos con letras dirigidas a diferentes emociones y sectores. Él asegura que se encuentra en su mejor momento y esa razón le permite ir un poco más allá para enfrentarse a nuevos retos musicales.

Le gusta participar en la producción de los álbumes para no perder su esencia entre la evolución musical (por llamarle de alguna manea), el aporte de los músicos, las decisiones del productor y las recomendaciones de Universal Music. Sin duda mantener este equilibrio es difícil pero ha logrado encontrar y aplicar la formula correcta durante 27 años de carrera profesional al verle cada vez más consolidado en la industria.

• ¿Qué me parece su cambio de estilo musical?

Particularmente crecí escuchando “Corazón partío”, canción que quizá sea el primer o segundo tema más popular de su trayectoria. Luego me fui tropezando con más y más versos hasta que terminé comprando todos sus álbumes (10 de estudio, 2 en directo y 2 recopilaciones). No he logrado verle en vivo, lamentablemente, pues no es secreta la tensa relación que posee con el gobierno venezolano. Su entrada al país ha sido negada más de una vez al no permitirle renovar la visa venezolana de trabajo. Lleva 8 años sin pisar “Bellezuela”, como él le llama.

Cuando decidí seguir la trayectoria de Sanz, además de apreciar su talento, también pude darme cuenta con solo verle en conciertos, entrevistas y encuentros con sus fans de la calidad humana que derrocha. Vive con una línea curva en el rostro producto de una sonrisa que solo puede transmitir tranquilidad y felicidad. Aunque suene un poco cursi eso también es de reconocer y admirar, sin contar su entrega en el escenario.

De hace 6 años para acá sus creaciones han permitido descubrir fusiones de ritmos, géneros como los de flamenco/salsa y flamenco/ranchera e instrumentos que van más allá de los usuales en sus trabajos anteriores como los timbales, el cuatro, el arpa, la trompeta, la lira, entre otros. El hecho de experimentar con otros sonidos siempre será de mi apoyo total, pues la música al igual que el resto de las cosas debe crecer y encontrarse con las diferentes culturas existentes.

Ahora, si de letras hablamos, encontramos recientemente rimas que incentivan al respeto por la música, peticiones de paz, reproches políticos, su familia e invitaciones a ser felices más allá de los problemas. Sin duda una variedad que se aleja de su reconocimiento si de encuentros pasionales hablamos pero que reflejan sus acciones y su estado actual. Es una voz más plural que no deja de sentir y amar, por ende logra llegar más allá de lo habitual en nosotros.

Comparto la idea de que la música se englobe en temática y en estilo, lo que no comparto es que devalúen su significado con experimentos que la perjudiquen a ella y a nuestros oídos. Escuchar y hacer música es volver a vivir o vivir más allá gracias a los sentimientos, representa gentilicios, tiene el poder de unirnos sin hablar el mismo lenguaje y puede callar a los “más poderosos”… por esta razón la respeto aunque no pueda realizarla. Se le debe dar el puesto que se merece y Alejandro Sanz es representación de ello.

A few days ago I commented my admiration towards Alejandro Sánchez Pizarro, better known by the whole world as "Alejandro Sanz" which is his artistic name since 1991 when he released his first musical work entitled "Viviendo Deprisa". This Madrilenian is a musician, composer and singer by profession; painter, cook and hobby altruist and, most importantly, a great person with his fans and friends. It counts in its list of recognitions and prizes with 20 Latin Grammys and 3 American Grammys.

It is usually characterized by always taking into account the romanticism in all its creations. Until a few years ago his rhythms used to be slow, more of acoustic guitar and piano than of drums and electric instruments, an aspect that allowed him to stand out as an artist who devoted his career to love and lovelessness. Today we find more moving sounds with lyrics aimed at different emotions and sectors. He says he is at his best and that reason allows him to go a little further to face new musical challenges.

He likes to participate in the production of the albums so as not to lose his essence between the musical evolution (to call him somehow), the contribution of the musicians, the decisions of the producer and the recommendations of Universal Music. No doubt maintaining this balance is difficult but has managed to find and apply the correct formula for 27 years of professional career to see him increasingly consolidated in the industry.

- How about your change of musical style?
In particular, I grew up listening to "Corazón partío", a song that may be the first or second most popular song of his career. Then I stumbled over more and more verses until I ended up buying all his albums (10 studio, 2 live and 2 compilations). I have not been able to see him live, unfortunately, because his tense relationship with the Venezuelan government is not secret. His entry into the country has been denied more than once by not allowing him to renew the Venezuelan work visa. He has not stepped on "Bellezuela" for 8 years, as he calls him.

When I decided to follow the trajectory of Sanz, in addition to appreciating his talent, I could also realize with just seeing him in concerts, interviews and meetings with his fans of the human quality that he wasted. Live with a curved line on the face product of a smile that can only transmit tranquility and happiness. Although it sounds a little cheesy that is also to recognize and admire, not to mention his delivery on stage.

Six years ago his creations have allowed us to discover rhythm fusions, genres such as flamenco / salsa and flamenco / ranchera and instruments that go beyond the usual ones in his previous works like timbales, cuatro, harp, trumpet, the lyre, among others. The fact of experimenting with other sounds will always be my total support, because music, like everything else, must grow and meet the different cultures that exist.

Now, if we speak of letters, we recently found rhymes that encourage respect for music, requests for peace, political reproaches, their family and invitations to be happy beyond problems. Undoubtedly a variety that moves away from its recognition if we talk about passionate encounters but that reflect their actions and their current state. It is a more plural voice that does not stop feeling and loving, therefore it manages to reach beyond the habitual in us.

I share the idea that music is encompassed in theme and style, what I do not share is that they devalue its meaning with experiments that harm it and our ears. Listening and making music is to live again or live beyond thanks to feelings, represents people, has the power to unite without speaking the same language and can silence the "most powerful" ... for this reason I respect it even if I can not do it. He should be given the position he deserves and Alejandro Sanz is a representation of it.
