Alfred Darlington, is not just an ordinary American electronic music compositor. From the way he express himself in the early Victorian Dandism style, through his globally respected music, up to the philosophical way of seeing and understanding the whole world, Daedelus is an extremely individualistic personality. Avoiding him in our challenge could be taken as an insult, not only for him, but for the whole second stream of ambitious underground electronic music. Surrounded from the youngest years by jazz and trained to play on many instruments, Alfred Darlington received a great basis knowledge before joining the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, where he studied Jazz on Double Bass. But between all of those facts, he states that the biggest moment of enlightenment in his musical journey took a place during his trip to England and accidentally catching up waves of underground pirate radio with Early Raves and UK Hardcore. This game-changer in mind of 15 years young boy led to fist amateur tryouts in small rock bands but discovering labels like Warp or Ninja Tune helped to start DJing and producing in 1999. Since the first productions in drum and bass style, up to his current, much more leftfield and experimental compositions, Daedelus always tried to keep his work somewhere outside the box of conventional categories and melodies. Long list of singles, EPs, remixes, collaborations and eighteen outstanding long play albums in 20 years were and are still shaping new boundaries of experimental, ambitious modular music and re-defining boarders between jazz and electronic.
