Steemit Record Pool - Good Music You Probably Haven't Heard (Day 2)

in #music7 years ago (edited)

Every so often, I stray from my usual musical stylings and delve deep into back corners of the web to find relatively unknown musical gems. I've found a lot of them that deserve more attention, so I post an album and short write-up here every day to help expose these bands to other music lovers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Mallard - Mallard "of the Thick"

A personal favorite, Mallard's a self-described punk/emo/river band out of Delaware that catches the ear with catchy rifts and a DIY sound that really makes them personable.   Listening to them is like that time your cousin Dennis asked you to go watch his friend's band play in some dude's basement, but you didn't really want to go so you said you didn't have a ride cause your radiator was broken and your car was in the shop (an utter lie), but then he was like, "Hey, no problem, man - I'll come get you." And then you had to go move your car around the block before he came and had to deal with the consequences.

But then the party had an open keg and you got that perfect buzz and the music was actually killer. You told Dennis about the radiator three years later while reminiscing. He laughed, you laughed, and the inseparable bond formed by Mallard's dank tunes lived on.

Fav song - "Quack Attack":

FFO: ducks, insecure people, not great vocalists who fit very well with the style
