The Master's Call (cover) - @cmp2020 and @gcamini
Hello everyone! My friend Gustavo and I have been planning to make a video together, and we finally got around to it! Gustavo is a very talented musician, photographer, and videographer, and I have been trying to convince him to post on Steem for a while. He set up an account (@gcamini), and I thought we'd make this video and post together to kind of dip his toes in the water. I'm hoping he'll make an introduction post to tell you more about his personal story, but I'd just like to point out that everything he knows about photography and videography, he has learned in the last year because he had to learn to livestream for the church services. I think it's pretty cool that the whole Covid situation left him with a new passion! Anyway, here are the lyrics and the video. I'll talk a little bit about the song after:
Lyrics and Video
The Master's Call
Originally by Marty Robins
When I was but a young man I was wild and full of fire
A youth within my teens, but full of challenge and desire
I ran away from home and left my mother and my dad
I know it grieved them so to think their only boy was bad.
I fell in with an outlaw band, their names were known quite well
How many times we robbed and plundered, I could never tell
This kind of sinful living leads only to a fall
I learned that much and more the night I heard my Master call.
One night we rustled cattle, a thousand head or so
And started them out on the trail that leads to Mexico
But a norther started blowing and lightning flashed about
I thought someone was calling me, I thought I heard a shout.
Then at that moment lightning struck not twenty yards from me
And left there was a giant cross where once there was a tree
And this time I knew I heard a voice, a voice so sweet and strange
A voice that came from everywhere, a voice that called my name.
So frightened I was thinking of sinful deeds I'd done
I failed to see the thousand head of cattle start to run
The cattle they stampeded, were running all around
My pony ran but stumbled and it threw me to the ground.
I felt the end was near, that death would be the price
When a mighty bolt of lightning showed the face of Jesus Christ
And I cried oh Lord forgive me, don't let it happen now
I want to live for you alone, Oh God these words I vow.
My wicked past unfolded, I thought of wasted years
When another bolt of lightning killed a hundred head of steers
And the others rushed on by me and I was left to live
The Master had a reason, life is his to take or give.
A miracle performed that night, I wasn't meant to die
The dead ones formed a barricade least six or seven high
And right behind it there was I, afraid but safe and sound
I cried and begged for mercy kneeling there upon the ground.
A pardon I was granted, my sinful soul set free
No more to fear the angry waves upon life's stormy sea
Forgiven by the love of God, a love that will remain
I gave my life and soul the night the Saviour called my name...
Conclusion
Thanks for reading/watching this! We spent about a day working on the audio and video. Gustavo played the guitar, and I sang and played a synthesizer for the bass part. All of the video work was done by Gustavo. Please make sure to comment any feedback you have, and introduce yourself to Gustavo! See you in the next post!
Simplemente hermoso, damos gracias a nuestro Señor por llamarnos por nuestros nombres, hermosa letra inspirada en una historia. El Salvador es maravilloso.
Bendiciones!!
Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful! Despite our differences in genre, I know what it means to express oneself through music. And I also know the joy of collaborating with other talented artists who bring different skills to a project. Although I still write songs and record for publication on Steemit and other social media, it has been many years since I created a music video. And watching this has made me very nostalgic of those days. My compliments to you, Gustavo, Marty Robins and anyone else involved in creating of this special moment!

You people have composed a very nice song and shot at a beautiful location, I like the lyrics you have shared here which is helpful for me since I couldn't understand the words you have sung because of our different pronunciation of English.
