This is the Lp I mentioned and that I listened to as a child
Over the years I learned that the Mr from the Lp Sr Alfredo Sadel was really called Alfredo Sánchez Luna, from Caracas as I was, born in a very poor family who, as a child, excelled in singing thanks to the choir of the Salesian school (educational institution governed for the educational methodology of the Salesian Catholic congregation). The first time he sang in public he did it in the Cathedral of Caracas where he interpreted the Hail Mary of Schubert aupado by the priests of the school obtaining pleasant acceptance of the congregated public. His stage name was Alfredo Sadel and El Sadel is a mix of two surnames, Alfredo was an admirer of the greatest tango singer in the world as was Carlos Gardel, so he merged his surname Sanchez with Gardel's, thus obtaining "Sadel", surname that I accompany him in his fame as a seal of unquestionable greatness.
And I, who was taking my first steps as a music lover was growing and over time I was getting to know more and more songs of this great singer already consecrated in my heart as my idol, but I was a teenager, a teenager who was beginning to see the world and within that awakening raid more and more who was and is humbly considered by me as one of the best singers of all time. Sadel is tenor; Excuse me, I was a tenor and I used the verb to be in the present because I really do not consider that he has left this world. Alfredo began his career of singer without even having studied the subject singing songs of Venezuelan folklore, here I leave you a Venezuelan musical show with our second national anthem; Alma llanera, from the film produced in Mexico called "Tu y la mentira" from 1958.
Tangos, pasodobles and Bolero, ah el Bolero ..., this genre in particular catapulted him to fame as he was incipient and his voice tenor and tessitura were perfect for the interpretation of a music that was the fashion at that time which I immediately take to international stardom, allowing him to sing on stages throughout Latin America and even star in films in Mexico and Hollywood. I remember my birthday, June 28, it was 1989, that morning I was getting ready to go to classes and on the radio I heard the sad news announcing the death of my idol Alfredo Sadel. He died that morning after a fight with cancer. I remember that I sat on my bed and a deep pain took hold of me. It was as if a loved relative had died, I felt very sad. The main Opera theaters in Europe closed their doors with black ribbons a week in mourning for that great Tenor who filled the best and most famous concert halls in the old world. It's been quite a few years since that June 28, 1989 and I still can not understand how someone can sing that way, how someone can give their life in a song.
Then I leave a very emotional link of his last appearance in public almost a month of his death, Alfredo, sitting in a wheelchair, gives a few words saying "I came here for one reason, I needed to see them".
Time goes by, people come and go. What is fashionable today and tomorrow is not (for some). For me, as a 45-year-old adult man, it is perhaps a little sad that the quality of music and its performers has deteriorated in recent times with new genres that only obey the tastes ($) of the major labels and do not to the true essence of what music is and represents especially our Latin American music, as well as in innumerable opportunities Sadel exposed him who considered himself Venezuelan and Latin American lover.
There is really a lot that I would like to convey to you about that countryman of mine who with his voice filled Venezuela and the old and new continent of history and sound passion, but I do not want to overwhelm you, more if I wish in a very humble way to share with you that magic that I know that my words suddenly could not explain 100%.
