Anna Mercer singing Gabriel Fauré "Les berceaux" (Cradles), Op. 23, No. 1

in #music6 years ago (edited)

Over the past couple of years I have posted several recordings of my daughter Anna singing. She recently recorded a number of pieces with her collaborative pianist Brian Way. Below is Gabriel Fauré's "Les berceaux" (Cradles).

Anna is about to start her university studies in music where she will be focusing on opera performance.

Hope you enjoy :)

Hello @buckydurddle

Great to see you more often in creating content on Steem now. This is a great recording of Anna's opera piece.

Her voice is very deep and I like how she increases the depth and volume as the music ascends.

I don't usually like opera music, but I really enjoyed her recording here. She has contrasts from soft music to loud music making the whole piece very interesting to listen to because of its variation in dynamics.

I love her concentration from beginning to end. This is probably what makes the music sound so good because all her energy is involved from diaphragm to mouth to produce those awesome sounds. At times, there is the need of the hand to bring the sound out from the diaphragm.

You must be a proud dad.

Rosa

Thanks Rosa. She is pretty serious about her music making :) And I have my job as a proud dad covered :)
Cheers,
Bucky

Her voice is amazing!!!!
And the way she sings like it just piece of cake makes me wanna cry. I can't sing to save my life, lol.

I don't know what the song is about, but it felt like a tired soul calling out for help but no one was listening. Or maybe it's just my scriptwriting thingy that's forming up something in my head while listening.

Either way, great voice and i wish your daughter goodluck in her studies.

Thank you for your kind words @wems.

Very nice, as always! Thanks for posting. I was just thinking a couple weeks ago that I hadn't seen any of her performances recently.

We're currently looking at colleges for 2020. Will she be going to a music school? @cmp2020 wants to study music composition, but it seems like there are two sets of schools out there. One set is "all in" on music, or the other set that might not be as strong in music, but also has programs in business or computer science, to develop marketable job skills in a 2nd major, in case it takes a while to break into the music industry. We're looking at both, but there are good arguments either way...

Hi @remlaps Nice to hear from you.

Anna has been performing regularly, but we have not been putting much of her music out there. As she was talking with various universities we wanted to make sure that we controlled what they were seeing and hearing.

Choosing a school can be tough. Anna is planning to study opera performance. She will end up doing that in the University of Toronto. That is the best school for opera studies in Canada. There are some other schools like the Glenn Gould Conservatory which are focused only on music. For Anna U of T seems like the best fit.

It is all very exciting. Great to hear that @cmp2020 is preparing for music post-secondary.

She is amazing, Bucky! What a voice!

Hi there @melinda010100. Nice to hear from you :)

😃 It's been a while! Happy you are doing so well here.
