With the ever-growing issues on centralized social media platforms such as censorship, @FiveStarGroup is taking advantage of a decentralized platform that is censorship resistant.
Decentralized Services and Rate Structure
Centralized services such as Spotify distribute payouts to artists from their music being streamed. They take a large percentage of the revenue and it goes to rights holders like the record label, publisher, and distributor. You can see the example below.
Now this chart above was from a couple years ago but I haven't found much of anything that shows that much changed to their model. You can see the list of rates from 2016 that services offer in this chart below.
Five Star Entertainment Gourp changing the way artists can get paid by utilizing a blockchain based payment structure. Taking advantage of the growing adoption of crypto-currency.
Using decentralized services such as @DSound, they are able to generate revenue by stake holders on the Steem blockchain. Listeners and supporters recieve curation rewards by supporting artist's music being that they are stakeholders and creating something other than the rate structures that centralized services have.
Increasing their stake on the Steem platform, will have the ability to generate their own revenue stream and also take advantage of the future addition of Smart Media Tokens.
Laying the Foundation
@FiveStarGroup is releasing music and vlogs, and setting up the foundation to support other musicians and entertainers. Expanding to various genres and building something revolutionary to the music and entertainment industry.

It's true decentralization could be the key to shaking up the rigid structure of the music industry. It has been controlled by record labels and publishers for so long, they've had the systems in place that favor them. The artist rarely gets a fair shake. They can't negotiate for a fair shake until they've become successful and are deep into their career, when they finally have leverage.
On a side note thanks for the breakdown for artist pay on spotify, I've been curious about it.

For sure. I'm sure we'll see more join the movement. Things are slowly changing and almost every industry will use blockchain in some form.

They will probably just release their own coin.
They are going to make a token system and have people use those tokens to buy goods and other stuff.
Crap goods of course, filled with plastic and pesticides and other chemicals. And the “other stuff” will likely add to credit card debts and similar things.
I see Facebook Cruises paid for on Facebook tokens in the near future.

Yeah, I was really excited about Musicoin but when they announced that they are going with a Universal Basic Income model, I got rid of my Musicoin...

I started studying musicology with the dream to change the musical field, which is, as you have stated dominated by a curculating group of musiciabs controlled by the same producing companies. We need to find a way to blow their monopoly away. I think steemit is a possibility for a lot of music related content! Interesting article and definately following you
Blockchain will definitely change that. Couldn't be a better blockchain to do that with than Steem. Social media + blockchain.
