A Classic Music Show

It's rare for a performance titled "Classic Music Performance", a title that does not seem obvious at all. But in fact rather than a boring show, this show is a staging that invites click amazed

It is Jakarta Chamber Orchestra along with Avip Priatna who performed on Saturday night at Usmar Ismail Hall, Kuningan. Also in the spotlight tonight is Esther Apituley with his violin altonya and also the players of the Amsterdam Viola Quartet.

With the format of friction orchestra, JCO brings works from inside and outside the country from various times. Opened with 2 Concerti Grossi from Handel and Telemann, both the 17th century German music architects. Then Suita came from domestic composer Haryo Suyoto and closed with Elegie of Vieuxtemps. Esther Apituley also appeared as a soloist at Concerto Grosso Telemann and Elegie.

The second half, JCO and Avip explored the Suite for Strings of Rutter and the well-known work of Barber, Adagio for Strings. in the second half is also featured Amsterdam Viola Quartet is sometimes also accompanied by orchestra. Starting from the work Onno Krijn 3 1/2 Souvenirs, this quartet finally with JCO brought Concert in C by Terry Riley a minimalist work that when observed further laden pentatonic colors and sometimes the typical musical rhythmic complexity.

Esther Apituley as a great reliable musician in Holland brings the work so vividly. The color of the violin game altonya is deep and responsive, which then becomes an orchestra stimulant to play more honestly and openly throughout the work.

Amsterdam Viola Quartet manned Apituley, Grapperhaus, Honingh and Van der Tak - all play violin alto - also feels so intimate, compact and close. The panoramic layered sounds are so transparent and clear, especially when accompanied by the sound of dance tap from Peter Kuit as the rhythmic foundation. Jakarta Chamber Orchestra under the leadership of Avip Priatna is also quite clean in executing almost the entire game. Sound stability is well maintained and supported by clear directions and directions, directing the interpretation of the work becomes more spontaneous. Baroque color is felt, while supported by the right articulation, as well as the work of Rutter with the spirit of the pastorale is soothing.

It's just that the lyrical characters that tend to contain the typical romantic end of the era has not so felt the difference. The wistful character in Elegie and Adagio Barber seemed to be somewhat bland, somewhat in contrast to other works already well presented by JCO.

But in general this concert really worth to be witnessed. Interesting and certainly invites the listener to get involved in the listening process. A sweet treat from JCO, Avip, Esther and Amster and Viola Quartet and not just a "Classic Music Show".
