RE: Music On The Blockchain: Choon review

in #music6 years ago

oh yeah, we're loving #Choon alright!!

I think the playlist curation is the real game changer here and could be EXACTLY what's needed to get listeners to subscribe to the service in the long run. Let's say you pay $10 a month for a subscription but then earn $100 curating playlists - win win!!

In terms of the GUI the white paper has details of a redesign, I think they sensibly went for something simple and made sure it was robust functionality wise to start with.

I have to agree about the logo though - exactly what I was thinking!

In answer to your question you do not earn NOTES listening to your own playlists.

By the way whilst they haven't got an official embed option yet (I'm sure it's coming) you can use an "IFRAME" to get tracks and playlists embedded on your own site. Google "iframes" and then use the URL to the track/playlist you want to embed.

Cheers!

I'll do an update post soon after using the service for a couple of weeks. But yes it works really well. Do you know how decentralized it is in reality? I was thinking that the audio itself seems to upload so fast that it need to be centralized and only the currency is ERC20 based?

Yes it is not really decentralised at all but using the token as you say. So it's more of a hybrid, which at the moment is probably the only way to get the speed required for seamless listening.
