Tour Diary #10: Tokyo, JP
This has been my first time in Japan, and what a trip it has been! I play keyboards with the danish band Sleep Party People and we just started a two week long Asia tour from Japan to Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. In Tokyo we played at Fever in Setagaya-ku - a really nice venue, and if you find yourself close-by it's worth a visit to the nearby Like A Fool Records record shop as well.
Sleep Party People I would describe as an mix of dream pop and shoegaze, and is easily recognized by us wearing rabbit masks and hoodies on stage. (Yes - more on this in a later post).
When the 18 hour travel from Denmark to Japan via Heathrow finally was over we luckily also had a couple of offdays before the show and before traveling on to Hong Kong. I tried to shift my clock before departing from Denmark, so I've been spared from heavy jetlag. So I could just spend the days just wandering around the city in Shibuya or Shimokitazawa - with some light sightseeing and a whole lot of food (mostly sushi and tempura, but I couldn't help myself visiting Seirinkan for a Pizza Margherita. Oh yes, and a pinch of karaoke.
Tokyo is an incredible city and it's of course impossible to get more than a taste in only two or three days, but it's a city I'll come back to for sure!
