Deen Squad, Against Islamphobia with Music
Hello steemians, today I will post about music, in addition to IT programmer I also like about music, does not mean I am a music observer :D, ok straight away, deen squad is an Islamic boyband from Ottawa- Canada who wrestle in the music flow of halal Remix.
The popular, popular rap or hip-hop music among young people today is synonymous with violence, sex, drugs and other mundane or hedonic things. These things fall into the category of Haram in the teachings of Islam.
Things that are forbidden certainly have no benefits that have a positive impact and no use listening to music containing such negative content. That is the background of Jae Deen and Karter Zaher who have the same interest and vision and mission to spread the message of Islam through rap music under the name Deen Squad.
Their music is 'Halal Remix' from mainstream music, turning the lyrics into Islamic-sounding lyrics. They changed the Trap Queen from Fetty Wap (which has already been seen about 400 million times on YouTube!) To Muslim Queen and Cheerleader from OMI (who is 600 million!) To Believer, both of which have lyrics to invite shalihah mates. Very contrary to the original song, but the opposite to the positive.
In the Muslim Man song which is a kosher remix of the Classic Man song from Jidenna they attack the humans who have Islamophobia with the lyrics "I'm a Muslim man - No, I'm not a terrorist."
On the Mecca song which is a kosher remix of My Way song from Fetty Wap, they express their desire to go to Mecca. Zaher did a rap with the lyrics:
"When I was young, man I was dumb
Committing a lot of these sins
So I go to Hajj
So now it's just time to repent. "
Which has a meaning in Indonesian:
“Di saat aku masih muda, aku adalah lelaki yang bodoh
Melakukan banyak dosa
Maka dari itu aku pergi Haji
Sekarang adalah waktunya untuk bertaubat.”
They hope their music will inspire Muslim youths to be proud of their religion and become more obedient in running it, they also want to show the other side of Islam to non-Muslims.
"We want to end Islamophobia, our message is not just for Muslims. It's a message for everyone, for mankind all over the world ". - Karter Zaher
Jae Deen admits that they get a lot of criticism for incorporating religious themes with hip-hop music, some even saying that the music is haram.
"Clearly the music within our Islamic tradition is a subject of debate. There are some scholars who say the music is forbidden and the clerics we hear say can be musical as long as it does not damage morale ". - Jae Deen revealed to Middle East Eye.
