Odd mycology: neglected alien oysters and mostly spent oyster cake thrown out between wood,

I gave a buddy some extra oyster corn cakes one time, he threw it in with some ripped up egg cartons and just pretty just set and forget for months. Definitely not an ideal way to grow mushrooms, especially since it went bacterial quickly (neat to see that oyster mycelium gives very few f's about bacteria though)...but well, check it out:

Am I crazy for thinking that some epic sets could be made for stop-motion or green-screen or whatever from grow rooms and neglected fungus like this?

Here's a chunk that I tossed outside after flushing 4x or so inside:

If you look closely along the bottom, you can actually see little pins poking out from underneath the white mycelium.

Unfortunately that little experiment never made it far, someone knocked it over somehow.
