Muse Update March 26th 2018
Hello everyone!
Today was the last day of our hardening sprint so as stated in the last community update "Part of the new structure is the post-sprint community updates which sum up what was achieved and what we will be tackling next. Each sprint is 15 business days so about 3 weeks calendar time."
So here it goes!
Last Sprint
- Updated the wallet UI to dynamically reflect changes to Muse account information
- Patched the wallet - including error some encountered when creating a new account then not being able to login
- Secure access to Rights Management Portal was tested and verified
- Verified that existing Musers can log into RMP
- Verified that all metadata inputted to the RMP is saved to the Muse Blockchain. This Milestone is HUGE for us but it gets better.
- Verified that the PeerTracks web app retrieves metadata from the Blockchain when a Muser listens to something (also huge haha)
- Verified that PeerTracks' Muse account can publish real time spins to the Blockchain. This means that when a Muser listens to Song X on PeerTracks, the web app tells the Blockchain what was spun/played by whom! The music world now has a transparent, accurate and tamper-proof record of what transpired... in real time! Pretty happy about that one too :) What an awesome job by the team! <3
- Next we ensured that the correct Musers were in fact paid for the spins that were reported by the PeerTracks account
- Witnesses began publishing Price Feeds for the Muse Dollar. Go Witnesses! (Check out this post to begin publishing your own price feed: https://steemit.com/muse/@davidguo/tutorial-muse-witness-price-feed-publishing
- All this means we can begin our invite only Alpha release of the RMP. )
Eye candy
Below are some pics for you to gaze upon. This is no longer a theoretical, pie in the sky, project. Both the RMP and PeerTracks interact with the live Muse chain.
Shown above is some content posted to the Muse chain via the RMP.
Here is the "PeerTracker" account reporting to Muse what was streamed on the PeerTracks music streaming web app.
Above are some Muse Dollars going to the rights holders of the (fictitious) content that was streamed on the PeerTracks platform.
A glimpse into the PeerTracks App pulling data from Muse.
Now we polish, test, and market!
In other news!
- CoinMarketCap.com finally updated all the info regarding the Muse chain
- We have an industry expert working with us to review the RMP and Smart Contract. He is also assisting with the new white paper. His input has been extremely valuable so far. I will make a separate post just for this.
- We are also conduction UX tests on the wallet to see if complete newbies are able to navigate this foreign crypto world. This will spill over to this upcoming sprint.
What's next
The next sprint isn't defined in detail yet since we have a important discussion to have regarding the Smart Contract and RMP feedback we received from our experts. This might affect things in varying degrees. But what is on the list so far is:
- Some testing left to do on the Management & Splits section of the Smart Contract
- UX/UI styling - Set up of an overall schema for the RMP
- Account Creation Verification Service - User authentication to prevent bots or Users from abusing the system
- DevOps Guide round 2 - Incorporate feedback from V1 and add in detail guidelines to high-level overview
- Allowing users to log into PeerTracks with their musername. Peertracks users must have a “musername” in order to stream content. This means just one username and password for the wallet, RMP and PeerTracks app.
That's it people! The big takeaway is that we have a working system and are in the polishing phase!
Q2 is going to be a Blast :D

An alt-coin token based system (bad enough), which attempts to partner with, but apparently co-opt the existing copyright system.. I'm far from convinced that this is the right model to fix the Music industries problems. Simple is best.. and this is not simple.
Blockchain tech is such a buzz word, but in 2016 Blockchain projects are going to have to demonstrate that the average user actually gives a damn..
Muse is simple as hell compared to the traditional music business!!!
Imagine a system were you have ONE place to register your Music's metadata. There can be countless portals, sites, apps, front ends in general offering their services but the actual data is recorded to a public ledger.
ONE username and password for all music portals.
You own your data, no need to rely on third parties.
You see what you are due as a rights holder.
You get your royalties directly. Not a single monkey or corporation run by monkeys ever needs to touch your funds.
I think you are seing complexity in this where there isn't. Or you are confusing the complexity of building a blockchain with the actual user experience.
You guys see the economics models, fancy terms like DPOS and convertible Debt instrument.
But our users are actually just going to see this:
For the listener it's even easier:
Steem based dollars haven't been on peg for months, and bitUSD is also not very good at that exercise. Are you doing something to make sure Muse Dollars are worth 1 USD and not 2–12?
They can be worth more than 1 USD, that is no problem at all.
The Muse Dollar, just like the Steem Dollar is a 1$ liability (an IOU for 1$'s worth of Core Asset) from the Blockchain's perspective. If people are willing to give the artist MORE than a Dollar's worth of value.. GREAT.
Same financial liability for Muse with LESS legal liability for the Streaming Platforms and content users. GREAT for all parties.
I see, so more is good but you'll make sure it doesn't move below 1.
It can't really move below 1$ for a long time since the Muse Dollars guarantees you 1$'s worth of MUSE. So if there are 1000 Muse Dollars trading at 90¢, buy them! And redeem them all for 1$'s worth of MUSE (core asset) you would have just made 100 bucks profit off of that trade.
yes @cob.
I've liked muse, and I've commented on the muse.
I'm sure, the muse will fast forward.
do you want me to make a post about muse?
maybe with this muse will more to know.
I hope you reply to my comments
thank you very much @cob
BTW: I'm assuming the same people are behind MUSE and Peertracks. On museblockchain.com I can easily sign up to be notified of when you launch, while on peertracks.com that button seems to link to sign up which is disabled. Perhaps implement the same notification feature as on museblockchain.com? Personally I love to be able to sign up to be notified.
Yes, it leads to the same people.
Notifying devs about this. Thanks for the feedback!
Music was once scarce. Before the days of MP3 and P2P file sharing, you didn’t have the ability to hear songs whenever you wished unless you bought them.
Today one does not even need to download songs, as platforms such as VEVO and YouTube host many of the most popular songs of yesterday and today.
The industry was faced with a definitive problem in an age of liberal copy and distribution technology: finding new ways to monetize digital music files that lacked scarcity.

cool
Mehn this is plain amazing. When I was reading and got to this place, I was so excited because as small as this might seem, it is a very massive achievement . The team really did an awesome job here and I have never seen anything like this before.
Coinmarket cap? Omg...What more can we ask for. I wonder what good news I will here again. This is exciting.
It is a wonderful group that should be remembered as one of the best of the past. The quality of their songs is usually close to each other. They are looking for new things, but they have never strayed from their style in a very dramatic way. thought contagion showed that productivity can be maintained in the same way without any loss. Dummies can sell or distribute specially designed Tokens to their fans as a VIP-pass or fan club membership. And I'm sure the end of these studies will definitely be a lot of success.
Muse Platform reflects as an effective music streaming platform and this post reflects the points of effectiveness and aspects of work to bring about improvement, this is a very good imformation for all steemit users, and it's really good news that now the music will be played on Blockchain Technology and on turn reflects the great future of Blockchain Technology.
Thanks @cob
the team has done really an awesome job.
some big positive changes has happened.
muser name to stream content, that will be quite beneficial
