It is totally night and day as for the cars of then and now. I can recall driving an older GTO and taking a turn hard it felt like the car was going to flip over. Shame most older cars are solely built for straight lines.
Back then we measured everything by 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Handling was for those fancy foreign cars. Friday night at the local Dairy Queen was run what you brung night. We'd even put slicks on in the parking lot, then head out of town for dragstrip style challenges. Wonder we didn't kill ourselves with the horrible brakes on those cars! We avoided any roads with corners.
