Hello @nuthman. Consider my comment as a kind of diary entry.

Most of the time, you feel like you're amongst yourself. But then I read comments from people from other cultures who don't actually take up our Western kind of sarcasm and cynicism. And then I think: Oh, shit. What have we come down to? We don't even notice that the whole world doesn't already use our way of thinking and mocking. There are indeed people who are free of Western sarcasm and irony and all these other attributes. Then I feel as if I must be ashamed of my kind.
And I think: Why do we do that? Why do we look for forms of expression that like to disparage each other?

The great figures from politics, business and religion are our most beautiful targets. But are we shooting at ourselves? And isn't it not a target, but a mirror? From the mirror's eyes, my self would say to me: "Well, you think it's especially funny to use sarcasm, don't you? Others will also find it funny and immediately sing a song with you. And indeed, this is happening. But actually, my dear, you know exactly that your sarcasm is only a valve. For a deadly serious thing. Which you take personally. I, your reflection, tell you: I am your dark shadow, which can very well be very evil. You should turn to me more often, then you wouldn't reject me so much in others. But they come in handy for you, don't they? Then you don't have to look at me. Truly, there are grandees that you are not up to.
