The Old Dog Presents: The Mundane as Art Round 12... Door Handles And Knobs. 20 Steem in Prizes!
Here's another mundane item that we see everywhere.....handles or knobs!
What Should You Focus on in This Round?
Don't just focus on the beauty of the handle but on the overall composition. Is the handle rusty but interesting looking? Good! Is the wood that the handle is mounted on rotten and weather beaten? Great! Perhaps the handle is shiny and beautiful and you're focusing on the reflection in it. Fantastic.
The point is that we are looking for art. Something that you'd like to see hanging on the wall.
Here Are Some Really Examples For You
Here is a collection of photos from pixabay.com. All of them are of interest for different reasons.
I took this picture last Friday of a 450 year old handle and door. So mundane but so much to see!

Thank you for running this contest @kus-knee.
What a lovely idea.
Perhaps @englishtchrivy will enter as well.
Looks like you will have plenty to make choices from.....so very many beautiful entries.
bleujay's submission.....thank you for the opportunity to participate.

I changed my mind @bleujay - I had an photo opportunity today at an old village and I found several door knobs and handles. I had to share them :)
Lovely to hear @countrygirl.
All the best.
Cheers.
Here's my entry...

Ah I just realised this contest has passed...
Yes sorry. I'm late in creating the gallery as well! I do like your picture though!
Cheers ; )
I am still on the look out for a nice knob. I think I will end up with the knobs on my cupboard. I am in Crete at the moment, and we visited some archeological places, like Phaestos and Arolithos Every contest you did so far i could for fill the request now! :) exept for knobs :-) Old palaces did not have knobs in Greece I think? ... :-) I think the gods did not need doors to close or open haha. But old stones, nature taking over , windows gates and sand like a horn of plenty :-) And everytime I think oh wow, @kus-knee would like that. :-) Last day on crete now, I will have my eye out for knobs once again :-)
Thanks for letting me know that you are searching. I haven't had time to go through all of these entries yet. Too much work!
I may be in that area too in a couple of weeks.
you come to Crete? Have you been here before? You want advice? I used to live here. :-) with my reply I mean how steemit changes someone, it is like i see things for other people, not really minded the contest, but just the shared interest part. :-) Like a friend asks, can you look for a nice this or that. I see loads of nice this or thats for you hahaha
Another one from the OLD DOG...always fun seeing this mundane arts.
...and a post about the contest
Thanks for taking the time to enter!
Allow me to join :)
Handle on the door of Hluboká nad Vltavou castle, south of the Czech Republic (2010). The crow is pecking at the head of a dead Turk. The owner of the castle brought this scene to his family coat of arms.
Favorite place for tourists to take photos :)

A nice one from @tanata!
I think it must be a great artist who made this. Love the drama in it.

Here's my entry, @kus-knee - an amazing handle from a vintage-but-knackered safe lying discarded outside a local factory unit:

Ooooo. That's a great one @jaytaylor. I love the rust and especially the fist holding the handle. Very arty! 😁
Thank you, Gillian - it is pretty amazing, isn't it? A happy find indeed!
Very nice!
Thanks - I was pretty blown away when I found it!
This is so cool! I love it when I find stuff too....glad to see someone else who gets excited about finds!
Oh, trust me - you are NOT alone, @countrygirl! :D

Thank you, Vee :)
Valletta in details

Hello @kus-knee
Here's a photo of my knob taken in Naples, Italy.
Cheers!
Love it!
The door does look grand.
Heres my entry from a rural place away from my Hometown
I love it!
This is great with lots of textures @maheshmnj
I love how your eyes are looking at the handles and locks and then you suddenly notice the window through the gap @maheshmnj. Brilliant shot! 😊
It was hard to pick, but since the rules say you can only enter one, here is mine! It is on an old barn that is down the road from me here in Wisconsin. Most of the old barns around here are falling down or being torn down because they are no longer being used by farmers.
Very nice. Love it!
You always have the best photos on file and find the coolest stuff!
Thanks! Jim and I spent a lot of days together with no other goal than to take photos. I think we both knew we had to collect as many memories as we could while there was still time.
That's such a sweet hobby to do together. Maybe I should see if John would be interested in learning how to take photos. I have an older Coolpix which would be great to start on. Our iPhones aren't good for photos in my opinion.
We had fun...even though we took photos very differently! I'm not good with taking pictures with my phone, but I keep trying!
I love this one @melinda010100. The rust, the wood and especially the angle.
My partner and I also love taking photographs together. In fact, it was he yesterday who reminded me about the handles and knobs contest. He was busy clicking away and I noticed what he was shooting and then remembered the contest. He's not on Steemit but is enjoying the extra opportunities to get out and about and take photographs. 😊
Any excuse to have a photo day! I miss having someone to take photos with! Remember to enjoy each minute!
I do really enjoy it @melinda010100 and thanks for the reminder. I am very aware that time may not be as long as we'd like. 😊
The only thing I would really like in life, that I don't already have, is for John to be able to retire early so we could do more stuff like this together. It is so much more fun to have someone to share it with and I'm very fortunate that I do.
John is not interested in Steemit or cryptocurrency but he likes exploring and taking photographs so it's great fun to share that bit of it! 😊
You are a wise woman, my friend! Jim had his own interests and spending time online was not one of them, either. Keep on Steemin and when it goes back up I hope he can retire early!
That would be amazing @melinda010100. I can't quite believe that that will ever happen but some people around here seem sure it will really take off, so why not?
Retirement is always a bit tricky though is't it? how much does one actually need? Whenever I try and answer that question I always start with the income we have now which just wouldn't be feasible. Then I lose interest because, how does anyone know that really? 😁
Irrespective it would probably be a good idea to keep blogging away, just in case! 😍
Just in case.....😃
Exactly @melinda010100. 😁
