Bob Marley, Japanese Principles
Good night family,
Bob Marley, King of Reggae, stated, “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.”
Epictetus, a Greek philosopher, said, "It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters. Integrity is not about avoiding difficulties, but about facing them with honesty and courage.” Similarly, the Japanese culture emphasizes harmony and respect for others, and encourages individuals to work toward balance with one's integrity with the larger society.
I work for a major organization, and I will say that I think the culture there is based on the principle of integrity. I've learned in life that life is not about what we make. At the end of our lives, one of two things is going to happen - we're either going to be cremated or buried, and none of what we have in life is going with us (unless you believe in ancient ideologies, which I do believe in some of their values / principles) ; however, when we find people who are buried from thousands of years ago, the stuff they were buried with is found with their bodies.
Anyways, life is about what we say, what we think, and more importantly, what we do. Life is about how we impact others while we have the chance. Life is about making a positive impact on others.
Goal for the night: Make positive impact on everyone you meet. Make positive impressions on others. Live a selfless life, not a selfish life. Respect one another.
Action for the day: I'm going to reflect on my life and the decisions I've made. I'm going to live by codes and principles that make a positive and lasting impact on others. I'm going to keep my side of the street cleaned, acknowledge my part in situations, and continue putting one foot in front of the other. Life does not come with a roadmap, and life is about reflecting on and learning from experiences. I will mirror my behaviors and attitude toward that of integrity. I'm going to reflect on and build respect where I can.
Peace and love to all
