The feeling for preparedness will lessen your fear and discomfort about the change.

Many time we don't carry enough cash on us for fear of being robbed. However, you need to shelve that fear and face it full on. When moving from one city to another, you need to make sure you have enough money on you. Do not assume there would be an ATM there. Have the cash to pay the movers, domestic stuff(if you take any) and pay off any miscellaneous expenses that you incur.

Travel blogs are very good source of information about a new place, especially local travel blogs. Those are generally written by those who have actually been to the place or hail from there.

Take note of important places.

Apart from time, you should also keep a note of important addresses. These include the cost of your accommodation, nearby food joints, hospitals, medicine corner and grocery store. A good way to remember these places is by taking a photo of them whenever you visit them so that you don't get confused.

If you are moving to a country or a state where the language is not known to you, it is important that you try to learn the basics. These basics should have cover everyday language such as greetings and basic question to help easily communicate. With time, you must build proficiency in that language.

At first, you may not like the new place. Memories from you old place and desire for nostalgia occupy your mind. You may feel like you'll never love your new place like you loved your old one.
