Today there are 2 TV shows about women with a hard fate.

Anne with an E

The TV series "Anne with an E" is based on a good series of books "Anne of Green Gables" written by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Although 8 books of the series are related to the genre of children's literature, in fact, they have a lot of bitterness and suffering, as well as no children's problems. Together with the book, we will live the life of the main character - Anne Shirley, from the age of eleven to her last days.

In my opinion, it's a very decent screen adaptation of the books. Actress Amybeth McNulty was able to transfer the book image to the screen 100 per cent. She is also angular, suffering from her ugly and red hair. Fast-talking in a beautiful literary language, stymie adults with her scorching truthfulness. The series is in no hurry, the first season is dedicated to the "accidental" adoption of Anne and her adaptation in a new role and society. She is surrounded by evil people, but Anne has cheerful nature. She is able to overcome all difficulties and like a rose germinating among the weeds.

Amybeth McNulty acts simply amazing for her years. If you are interested in such subjects - growing up and accompanying problems, I recommend to watch Anne with an E. The plot is interesting, the picture is colorful, and Canada of the 19th century, no doubt, immediately causes nostalgia and the desire to be in those places.

Alias Grace

The TV series "Alias Grace" is also based on the book written by Margaret Atwood. This is another screen adaptation of the story by this author, we have recently enjoyed a beautifully shot series "The Handmaid's Tale". Grace Marks was convicted of the murder of her employer. However, Grace does not remember anything, Dr. Simon Jordon is trying to help her restore past events.

Cast: Sarah Gadon, Edward Holcroft, Zachary Levi, Kerr Logan, Paul Gross.

My opinion: Guilty or not guilty? Is the girl a skilled manipulator or an innocent lamb? The viewers will ask themselves these questions as they dive into the life story of Grace. 19 century, she and her brothers, sisters, parents emigrate from Ireland to America. For someone, this is a big step towards a new life but for someone just a change of location. Her father beats her, inclines to incest. And it seemed like the light was breaking in at the end of the tunnel - Grace was invited to work in a nice house, but this work ended up in prison.

The beginning of the pilot episode was not striking, the narration seemed long, but as soon as Grace began to remember her "youth", the series gained a new breath. A dark, intriguing story and by the way, is based on real events.
