imageSince 2008, Marvel movies have been raking in millions of pounds at the box-office.

Movies focused on characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy and the two Avengers films have helped make the Marvel Cinematic Universe the highest grossing franchise in box office history.

According to Box Office Mojo the total worldwide gross for all 17 Marvel movies combined is a whopping $13,508,528,266 and guess what?

That total is about to get a whole lot bigger.

Deadline are reporting that Marvel's next movie Black Panther has already surpassed Captain America: Civil War in terms of advanced ticket sales, just 24 hours after going on sale to the public.

Just for some context, Civil War opened up with a first-weekend box-office of $179 million in May 2016.

This news would suggest that Black Panther could eclipse that, which would be quite an achievement.

Perhaps it's down to the awesome trailer for the movie and the fact that Kendrick Lamar will be appearing on the soundtrack, alongside Jay Rock, Future, James Blake, Run the Jewels and SZA, .

However, as Deadline points out presale tickets don't necessarily translate to a high box-office figure and the success of the movie will depend on the overall interest of the general public and not just Marvel fans.

This is a Marvel movie though so it is probably going to do really well at the box-office.

Deadline adds that industry experts do not believe that Black Panther will beat Civil War's opening gross.

When discussing the subject, the editor of American ticketing company Fandango, Erik Davis said:

Black Panther is riding an incredible wave of momentum right now.

It’s one of the biggest and most anticipated movies to ever open in the month of February, and its trailers have electrified the Internet.

Tickets have been going fast ever since presales started on Fandango late Monday.

Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, the ruler of the fictional African nation Wakanda, which is the most technologically advanced country in the Marvel Universe.

After the death of his father, T'Challa returns home only to be confronted by a deadly nemesis which will test his resolve and the safety of his people.

The movie also stars Angela Bassett, Michael B.Jordan, Andy Serkis, Forest Whitaker and Lupita Nyong'o.

It will be released worldwide on 16 February.

I can't wait to watch it. The chase scene with him and Captain America in Civil War was my favourite part of the movie.
