The Babysitter – Movie Review
The Babysitter is a 2017 comedy horror movie directed by McG. In this movie, Cole (Judah Lewis) is twelve-year-old who still has a babysitter, Bee (Samara Weaving), that stays with him every weekend, while his parents go on vacations. He is considered to be an awkward nerd, even though everyone around him is just super strange. One weekend, on the advice of a friend he decides to stay awake and see what his babysitter does after he goes to sleep. Big mistake. But it leads to some funny results.
Half of the time the movie delivered the laughs and the funny action that is expected from such a movie. Heck at times you would think you’re watching Home Alone, while laughing out loud. The other half of the movie will simply leave you wondering about the strange choices that the director has made. Like, why is everyone acting so strange that you feel like you’re watching a parody. Why do we sometimes see the movie from Cole’s perspective when it’s unnecessary. And why is Cole the only normal person in this movie. At times, it crosses the line and becomes too parody like, and I didn’t like this genre blend. Still, if you can ignore some of these moments, or simply laugh at them as part of the experience like I did, you will enjoy this movie.
This movie had some serious potential to be a really great horror comedy. Unfortunately, it was ruined by some really strange choices. Still, if you have nothing else to watch this movie is a lot of fun, and will surly make you smile and laugh at times.
I give it a 6.5/10
