New Mutants is Hanging in the Air Again
Poor New Mutants just can't catch a break. If you've seen the new Marvel/Disney schedule then you know something there is missing. A movie is missing. The New Mutants. This movie has suffered a lot. First the release date was changed as it was pushed to February, 2019. Then extensive reshoots were ordered. Then Disney bought Fox in March 2019. Then the reshoots were cancelled. Then the movie was supposed to hit theaters on April 3, 2020. Which obviously will not happen, because the entire world is on coronavirus lockdown.
When Disney released their new movie timeline The New Mutants was very obviously missing. I think that after all of these problems and bad luck that surrounds the movie it is time to release it to streaming. I know that fans wanted it in theaters to see how well it will do, but it was tracking to open between 15-25 million dollars. That is terrible damage to the X-Men brand. Better just put on Hulu so we can all enjoy it much more now that we so desperately need new content.
What do you think? Should Marvel wait and release the movie later on in theaters or put on streaming sometime soon?
