RE: The Book of Eli (film): Top-tier apocalypse film
I enjoyed the movie right up until the revelation of what he was carrying around. I realized right there that screenwriter Gary Whitta (who was the long-time editor of PC Gamer magazine here in the US) had never seen one or even researched what one looked like. Given what it was supposed to be, and my own personal experiences in having handled such books over the last twenty years, it was far too small. Something like that (at least complete) would have required a small truck to port around, would consist of somewhere between 35 and 40 individual volumes, and weigh nearly a hundred pounds.
10/10 for style points on the twist (especially Oldman's reaction, which sells everything so well I can't even be mad), but man, anybody who knows anything about what they look like in real life was rolling their eyes. :)
