notstarring.com - A great site for movie lovers
Did you ever recast your favorite movie in your mind? Ever wondered who else was up for a major part?
Then I have a site recommendation for you:
This is a website that is dedicated to showing you which actors were up for a part, but either didn't quite make it or turned them down. You can browse by year, actors or movies.
I bet you will find some really odd casting considerations. Here are five of my biggest head-scratchers:
Christopher Walken as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean
The most impersonated actor ever, was actually considered for the role of Jack Sparrow. I love Walken and he is a legend, but can you imagine him portraying the eccentric pirate captain with his slow speech rhythm?

Kevin Costner as Neo in The Matrix
Even the editors of the site can't believe this casting consideration :).

Sandra Bullock as Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
Casting movies based on video game licenses is always a tough call. It is hard to please fans of the titles, as they already have an idea of who the character is. Now imagine what their outcry would have been if Sandra Bullock would have gotten cast as Lara Croft. The beautiful and charming actress is surely talented, but as the heroine of Tomb Raider she doesn't quite fit (at least in my opinion).

Chevy Chase as the Terminator in The Terminator
Are we talking about THE Chevy Chase who is best known for his performances on Saturday Night Live and the National Lampoons Vacation films? Apparently, so. The funnyman was considered to play the titular cyborg in the original film. Would you have been able to watch it without cracking up?

Nicolas Cage as Superman in Superman Returns
One of the most productive actors in Hollywood (churning out at least 5 movies a year), has consistently dabbled with roles in superhero movies. He was considered for the role of the Green Goblin in Spider-Man and in the late 90s was even in the running to star as Iron Man. But the most awkward has to be Superman. The movie went into pre-production in the mid-90s and reportedly the star of the Wicker Man was considered for the title role. At least Nic got Ghost Rider....

Haha Nicolas Cage as Superman...Hilarious! Good article!
Thanks! I know, right! According to the site Jim Carrey was supposed to portray the villain. What a classic this would have been :)!
