Movie Review - Topher Grace In 💊 Delirium 💊
SOMEBODY GET ME SOME LITHIUM!
I'm not going nuts with this review. Although I didn't like it - I don't think it's even worth the effort thats going in to writing this. So much potential. There were just no surprises. Everything played out as you would expect. I caught myself yawning out of boredom on multiple occasions.
After his fathers suicide Tom is released from a long stint at a mental institution and inherits his family mansion. Slowly his mental state quickly deteriorates as he begins to suspect the home is haunted.
Old demons - Both figurative and real begin to surface - Further stressing his already fragile mind. It's Shudder Island meets The Shining / 1408. What's real? Whats imaginary? Whats a delusion? Where does fact end and fiction begin?
It starts out well enough. Set design and production values are all there. The cinematography is better than most of the films you would find in this tier - The problme is the plot gets bogged down by so much soap opera-ish familial bullshit it drags the pace of the movie to a screaming crawl. There's so much cheesy dialogue - It's exhausting - trying to keep your self focused and entertained.
WTF is with his parole officer / handler? Every word she speaks sounds like it was purposely written to sound cliche and cringe. She's a walking talking COCK - I don't know how else to explain her. She dies. I was glad.
There are devices in the film - Such as an telephone that he must answer twice a day - That can ring no more than 10 times - He has to say his name and let the phone take a photo of his face - As soon as you're introduced to it and it's mechanics are explained you know exactly how it's going to play into the story.
Tom finds secret passages. Peepholes.Two way glass viewing areas. Tape recorders and video collections - His father had some sick and twisted obsessions. There is also a buried family secret - that is uncovered - but if you're paying attention to everything that happens it should come as no surprise.

What in Gods name was Dicaprio smoking - Who did he owe money too. How does this happen? Shock does not begin to describe my reaction to finding out he had a part in this. Leo. Come the fuck on. Call me - We need to have a chat. This "Film" has gotten more of my time than it deserved. I'm finished talking about it.
