Poetic Film Review: Protection (2001)
In the shadows of the city's night,
A wolf in sheep's clothing takes flight.
Sal, the mobster with a tainted past,
Finds himself in a witness protection cast.
New identity, new life, new friend,
But old habits die hard, in the end.
Ted, the idealist, unaware of Sal's sin,
Caught in a web of deceit, he's pulled in.
As Sal tries to help, old foes emerge,
Threatening to destroy all he's worked to preserve.
With violence and twists, the plot unfolds,
But the film's potential, sadly untold.
Baldwin and Gallagher shine in their roles,
But the script and direction take their toll.
Protection, a film with promise unmet,
A missed opportunity, a forgettable bet.
Despite its flaws, it's worth a watch,
For the performances that rise above the botch.
A reminder that even in darkness, light may gleam,
But in the end, Protection remains a dream.
