Poetic Film Review: Lady in the Water (2006)

In shadows of the city, where the lost souls dwell,
A tale unfolds, of myth and magic, to tell.
Lady in the Water, a nymph of old,
Entwined with darkness, her story to unfold.

Cleveland Heep, a guardian of the night,
His heart weighed down by family's tragic plight.
A world of wonder, in his grasp he holds,
A chance to change the course of destiny's molds.

But as he stumbles, through the labyrinthine maze,
His quest for truth, is met with twisted craze.
The scrunts that lurk, with snarls and growls so fierce,
A test of wills, with courage as his requisite.

In this realm of fantasy, where art and myth entwine,
A filmmaker's vision, in a tale of his design.
M. Night Shyamalan, with passion and with pride,
Crafted this world, where dreams and nightmares reside.

Yet, as his creation, took its final form,
The critics' knives, left scars and wounds on his heart's chart.
A cautionary tale, of a creator's fall,
When ego and hubris, overshadow the call.

For in the shadows, where the monsters roam,
Lies the danger, of a creator's darkest home.
To silence the critics, he took a path of his own,
But the result, was a tale, that left many alone.

In the end, it's a lesson, for us all to see,
The power of creation, can sometimes be a curse to be.
For Shyamalan's tale, a cautionary sign,
That even the greatest, can stumble and decline.
